This is not a garden blog, but you might see an article concerning gardening. It is a blog about me and the cultivation of my life. This is a place where I air my opinions and ideas. There will be stories about what is happening or has happened. I like to write poems, some will be good and some will be bad. I am never bored, I hope you won't find what I write about boring. Thank you for sharing time with me.

A BIRTHDAY CARD TO OUR SON

Today's the day we say thanks,
Even after all your pranks,
Watching you grow from a boy,
To a good man, has been a joy.

The weather, the day you were born,
Missouri was unseasonably warm,
I'd bought a lovely satin snow suit,
Just the right size, you were so cute.

I bundled you up, carried you in my arms,
You slept quietly, hiding all your charms,
We worked hard to assure this day of your birth,
We knew we had the smartest kid on earth.

You proved it as you grew,
Good grades were easy for you,
At your Bar Mitzvah you did shine,
Hebrew scriptures executed very fine.

In a navy, pin striped suit, a mensch you were,
You didn't act like it was jeans you'd prefer,
Dad and I were so proud,
We wanted to shout out loud.

Growing up, an accountant you wanted to be,
All day long a briefcase was hauled around by thee,
When asked where you were going and why,
"To count peoples money", was your reply.

We had the first apple computer on the block,
You wanted to control it, you liked it a lot,
Our saving grace, was no internet then,
Glad with that obstacle, we didn't have to contend.

You surprised us on your graduation,
You had signed up to defend our nation,
A scholarship to Mizzo's accounting school,
We thought that would, your life rule.

Instinctively, you made the best choice for you,
Seeing the world, new sites was a big ta do,
Growing literally, another 3 inches, as a man you became,
Making us proud with each promotion you were named.

This month, almost thirty years you've been away,
When you visit home it is only a short stay,
You are never out of our thoughts,
We're glad on this day, to us you were brought.

We love you and want you to know the pride we have in you
and your choice to be a Navy Man.

Happy 48th Birthday
Mom and Dad
