This is not a garden blog, but you might see an article concerning gardening. It is a blog about me and the cultivation of my life. This is a place where I air my opinions and ideas. There will be stories about what is happening or has happened. I like to write poems, some will be good and some will be bad. I am never bored, I hope you won't find what I write about boring. Thank you for sharing time with me.

SALUTE TO A NAVY SON

Each day I check the page,
To see the little boy, who doesn't age,
He'll always reside in my heart,
The little boy who is very smart.

He's gone to who knows where,
We never know if he is there,
He's protecting the rights of others,
For his worldly sisters and brothers.

At night, my arm's no longer cradle,
He is now a man with a label,
His inner pride, and self strength,
Give him the will to go to lengths.

To make decisions for his fellow mates,
Protecting his friends from fifty states,
Children who used to be cradled in mother's arms,
Trying to keep them from daily harms.

Our son is going to be Forty-seven January 29.  We couldn't be prouder of the man he's become.  His journey was not the trip we would have chosen for him.  He decided on a whim to join the Navy.  (He was already registered to attend Missouri University).

We should have known this might have been the direction he was headed.  Fourth of July was his favorite holiday.  He saved every dime he could for fireworks and treated us each year to a display.

He comes from a long line of patriotic men.

Father was in the Army.
An uncle who is a Captain in the Navy.
An uncle who is a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force.
Three great uncles who were in the Army in World War II.
A great uncle who was in the Army in Korea.
A great Uncle in the Air force
A great Grandfather who was in the Coast guard in 1914.
A great Grandfather who was in the Navy in World War I.

I know I have forgotten some family members who believe in our country and believe in protecting our rights.  I apologize, what you did is no less important, I am writing this without researching family ties.

We want to Thank the Captains of our Son's Aircraft Carrier for taking care of the little boy who means so much to us.  Thank you for putting yourselves in danger protecting our right to make decisions and choices.
Keeping oppression from our shores.

  2. Thanks to your son Steve for his service and for all those that serve or who have served their country. (My husband is a vet (Korea) as is my brother. And thanks to the families like yours that sacrifice as their family members serve and although proud, must worry every day for their safety. May God watch over them all. Maggie
