This is not a garden blog, but you might see an article concerning gardening. It is a blog about me and the cultivation of my life. This is a place where I air my opinions and ideas. There will be stories about what is happening or has happened. I like to write poems, some will be good and some will be bad. I am never bored, I hope you won't find what I write about boring. Thank you for sharing time with me.

AGEING: WHEN DID I GET OLD?

I was listening to news last night, which is not news, because it is a regular routine with me.  We have a Son in the Navy and world affairs is something I have a need to know.  There was the usual mass destruction, murdering of the masses, and political torture.

Then came the local news.  We have the social injustices, murder in the masses and mass destruction.  This time of year the news is filled with notices of fires due to people using space heaters to keep warm.  This last week there was an apartment fire which was a 7 alarm fire.  I haven't heard the cause yet but I wonder, was this a space heater incident?

The day before a grandmother and her two great grandchildren died in a space heater caused fire.

I know others listen to the same news  I do, and people have been warned about the dangers using space heaters and precautions they should take.  This saddens me, people are being so negligent.  What does this have to do with Ageing?  Not a thing.  It was listening to news which alerted me to the fact, I am getting old.

18 year Wedding Anniversary

Someone forgot to give me the news.  I thought my aches and pains were due to too much work, to abuse of my extremities from being overweight.  The years I tortured my muscles working with and struggling with animals which weighed 8-10 times more than I did.  Bouncing around on a mower mowing several acres doesn't improve the back either.

I am only half listening to the news when they mention something about someone helping an elderly gentleman.  Stating he was 70 years old.  Earlier that day I was speaking with a friend who said she had to help her elderly father move.  I asked her his age and she said he was 72.

I said, "Wait a minute.  This age isn't elderly, I will be 70 in June and my husband will be 75 in March."
She said they were very ill.
Is this what decides if you are elderly at a certain age?
Is it based on mental and physical health?
Is elderly a state of mind not a chronological age?
